Noor Zaman, the talented squash player from Pakistan Wapda, emerged victorious in a thrilling final against his close rival Saddam Ul Haq of Pakistan Army at the All Pakistan Men Squash Championship. The final was played at the Qamar Zaman Squash Complex on Friday, witnessed by a host of dignitaries and fans.
The Secretary of the Pakistan Squash Federation, Group Captain Zafaryab Iqbal, graced the occasion as the chief guest. He was joined by a former World Champion and Director of the Blue Tone Squash Academy, Qamar Zaman, members of the KP Squash Association, Chief Referee Munawar Zaman, players, and officials.
Noor Zaman exhibited his skill and prowess by defeating Saddam Ul Haq in straight sets, with the score line reading 11-9, 11-2, and 11-6. The final lasted a mere 22 minutes, during which Noor Zaman was in complete control of the proceedings and did not allow his opponent to strike back.
The championship saw the participation of 40 players from all over the country in the four-day event, making it a grand success. At the end of the final, the chief guest awarded the trophies and cash prizes to the winners and runners-up. He also commended the KP Squash Association for organizing more tournaments, especially in different age groups, which have helped bring forth talent from the grassroots level into the national pool.
It’s worth mentioning that Noor Zaman recently won the gold medal in the Asian Team Championship held in India, cementing his position as one of the best squash players in the country.
